I was really surprised at how well my first Q&A post went, so I decided I would do it again. I figure if somebody has the question, there’s a good chance that at least one other person has a similar question, and I’m here to help.
Also, I really appreciate the feedback from you and encourage you to keep asking questions.
Affiliate Marketing Questions and Answers
1. I’m trying dating on Facebook but the CPC is very high. What can I do?
I talked about this a bit on WickedFire and I really don’t understand how Facebook determines their suggested CPC/CPM prices. They are very inaccurate and definitely artificially inflated. If you are working with a $1-8 payout on Facebook, I would strongly suggest bidding CPM instead of CPC. Make ads that get a great CTR, and your costs will go way down. If you are making dating ads, take a look at the differences between men and women too.
2. My Facebook keyword targeted campaign has a reach of 1.5M users. Is that too large?
This depends largely on your audience and how targeted your landing page/offer are. I have had success targeting audiences of about ~1.5M, but have also seen great success targeting groups of about 100K. If you can make money on 1.5M, then scale it as fast as you can. If not, continue segmenting your audience as much as possible so you can seemingly meet the needs of each and every person.
3. Is there a good way to scale a campaign without increasing budget?
If you are profitable, the best way to scale would be to increase your budget. In terms of building a larger campaign (which is hard unless you are willing to spend more money) it depends on your traffic source. PPC: Add similar keywords – FB: Add similar keywords, broaden demographic targeting, target different genders – PPV: Add similar targets, ‘chop’ existing profitable targets (winningtarget.com, winning target.com, winningtarget, etc), hit similar demographics. Again, scaling your campaign will require an increase in budget, and if you are profitable, work to increase your budget as much as you can.
4. I tested 100 ads at once on a small demographic but only 16 ads got impressions. Why?
Depending on the demographic size, there just aren’t enough impressions to go around. I would suggest testing 5-10 ads maximum at one time for any given demographic. Testing more than that doesn’t leave much control for you to analyze the data after the test.
5. You wrote about making money on hot trends. Is there any way to make sure you are the first one to enter a specific market for a hot trend?
There is no way to make sure you are the first to enter unless you predict a future event. However, you can easily set yourself up for success because many events are seasonal. For instance, there will be a Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, NBA Finals, etc. every single year. Many people are on that trend though, so think less seasonal and more unique events, like a Chicago Cubs World Series (haha).
6. Do you have an email newsletter?
Yeah, the box up top is for my newsletter, and I’ve also added it after each post. I suppose I could put something like “Join My Newsletter” by it. If you aren’t signed up yet, you should. I’m working on getting interviews from Harrison and Ryan from EWA Network and a bunch of other cool stuff.
7. I have made money on Facebook with dating, but I am struggling on Plenty of Fish. Can you help?
Honestly, I haven’t had much success on Plenty of Fish using broad targeting. However, I have had ads with 4-5% CTR using drill-down targeting. The volume is lower, but it is much cheaper and much more profitable. Try segmenting your offer more and see how closely you can target your audience.
I really like doing these posts. If you don’t ask questions, I might just make some up and do it that way!

Right on! Wicked blog post.
Thanks Andrew! Do you pronounce your last name ‘hater’? If so, that’s awesome.
Well nailed… thanks
Yep!
do you think the dating niche is simply overcrowded?
It’s definitely overcrowded, but a little creativity goes a long way. The niche, like weight loss, debt, etc. is not going anywhere soon, so there will always be intense competition. It’s about differentiating yourself to create value.
Yeah man! It’s hilarious.
If you start hating on people, they can change the saying to “Hayter’s gonna hate”
Great stuff. Looking forward to the interviews!
Me too Dino, I really think they will be helpful.
<3 u bro.
Thanks Raphael!
Always a great resource! Thanks for posting
I’m glad you appreciate it LC – Thanks for commenting!
Jeremy, nice tips! Thanks for sharing.
Mike, not a problem. Hopefully they can help you reach your $100K goal!
I wish that more people would make posts like these with Q&A. Great job, short and effective.
I love the idea of doing FAQ type posts. Very easy to do and very effective. I’m glad you like it!
So i was just wondering, and thought I might as well ask you since your doing this FAQ’s.
How do you set up your Tracking202 with your facebook campaigns? Also do you split test landing pages and do you use the pixel image so you can get notified when a lead is made?
Also what do you do when a network doesnt have a pixel placer? Like Azoogle ads don’t have a autmoatic one, but EWA does have one right there. And how long does it take for a pixel when its placed to become activated?
I want to start tracking in tracking202 but seems a bit complicated and a hassle to get the pixels to fire properly and what not, when I can just look in my network for details right?
I answered the tracking question in Round 1:
http://www.profitaddiction.com/you-have-questions-i-have-answers/
I split test EVERYTHING you can think of, ads, landing pages, pictures, etc
I do all the conversions manually – It’s a pain sometimes, but I had too many issues with pixels so I decided against that for now
Jeremy,

Thanks for the kind words Ian. I have another great post coming up this week!
Nice post Jeremy. It’s very rare to put up FAQs on blog posts. Looking forward to your next post.
Cheers
